Economic Figures

Bulgaria's economy is in good shape; 2006 marked the ninth successive year of growth since the 1996/97 financial crash. Consumption and GDP are growing, investment, both foreign and overseas, is breaking records, unemployment levels, though still high in relative terms, are falling and imports and exports are continuing to increase at a robust rate. Opportunities for Investors

EU-Member-State Bulgaria joined the Community Internal Market that already counts nearly 500 million people and has a GDP of around EUR 10.8 trillion. In this enlarged area Bulgaria makes its own development contribution, which should be considered with the comparative advantages of the country in mind: its specific geographical position, the quality of its labor force, and cultural specificity. Education, Personnel and Labor Market

In Bulgaria there are 3.5 million economically active working people, counting 53.5% of the population. 56.8% of the employed population is working in the service sector. The unemployment rate has been constantly decreasing during the last years and was recorded at 6.6% for the first three months of 2007. Only 8.4% of the unemployed population are people with higher education.
