Mission: impossible? – Distributed leadership between closeness and distance

The increasing cost and efficiency pressure in times of globalization poses new intercultural challenges towards managers: The Austrian Regional Manager reports the performances of his team in Croatia, Hungary, and Poland to the CEO in Great Britain. The HR director in the Czech Headquarters supervises the Shared Service Centre for personnel development in Romania. The »virtual« cooperation should function smoothly – in spite of the geographical distribution and thus much more complex communication and controlling processes. Complicating factors are different languages, value concepts, and mentalities.

How do I manage across national and cultural borders? Which cultural value systems must be considered? Can common Western management techniques even be successfully employed in Eastern Europe? And how much closeness or distance is necessary for distributed management in CEE and SEE? An increasing number of managers find themselves faced with these questions today.

Discuss with experts about the essential aspects of management beyond borders, as well as practical experiences with Central and Eastern Europe!
