Interview

An invitation to a job interview is definetly a result and rewards the quality of your application. Your application has convinced the counterpart that it is worth meeting you in person. Have another look at the application you sent and check what you conveyed the counterpart. He/she has made a »picture« of you based on your application papers and he/she wants to be convinced by a personal interview.

Job interviews are not an oral test or sales pitch, rather a mutual negotiation that aims at a common success. The employer wants to find out during the interview if you fit into the team and you should try to find out whether the position is suitable for you and if it fulfils your expectations.

Tips:

  • Prepare yourself for the interview and the interviewer
  • Practise interview situations with friends or professional application training
  • Remember: the first impression is deciding. Neat accessories belong to your image just as a winning appearance
  • Take your complete application, the ad, the interview invitation, an ID, pen and paper with you
  • Prepare key data and year dates from your curriculum vitae
  • Show sympathy when warming up
  • Pay attention to your body language - try not to seem disinterested or hectic
  • Address your counterpart personally
  • Let the interviewer ask questions first and then find the right time to get active
  • Listen actively and pay attention to make eye contact
  • Present yourself in a genuine manner
  • Show interest and ask questions
  • Arrange the next step
