The position will lead the launch and intensive expansion of a new high-profile retail brand of Flying Tiger Copenhagen in Serbia. A Country Manager will spearhead the development of a strong local retail network, with the goal of opening many stores across key Serbian cities in the next few years and lead retail operations and have full P&L ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Network Development and Expansion:
- Design and implement a national expansion roadmap aligned with Group growth targets, including city prioritization, store roll-out scheduling, and location-specific business planning.
- Identify, assess, and secure high-potential retail locations across Serbia through market analysis, footfall studies, and competitor benchmarking.
- Lead negotiations for lease agreements and retail real estate contracts, ensuring optimal commercial terms and long-term sustainability.
- Establish strong relationships with landlords, real estate agents, and property developers to ensure a robust and continuous site pipeline.
Operational Leadership & Brand Development:
- Oversee the launch and operational readiness of each new store, ensuring consistent application of brand standards, customer service excellence, and cost-effective execution.
- Recruit, structure, and lead a high-performing local team, providing mentorship, setting clear KPIs, and fostering a performance-oriented culture.
- Serve as the brand ambassador in the local market, ensuring alignment of the brand image with consumer expectations and Group values.
- Manage daily operations of the company, ensuring operational efficiency, team collaboration, and adherence to Group procedures and policies.
Financial Management & P&L Responsibility:
- Own the full P&L of the Serbian operation; ensure revenue, cost, and profitability targets are met and optimized throughout the expansion.
- Monitor performance metrics of each store; take proactive measures to improve financial results, reduce inefficiencies, and maximize ROI on new openings.
- Lead the development of annual budgets, business plans, and investment proposals for store expansion and operational improvements.
Strategic Alignment and Reporting:
- Work closely with Group and regional teams to ensure strategic alignment, transparent reporting, and seamless integration of Group initiatives.
- Analyze consumer trends, retail innovation, and market shifts, recommending strategic adaptations or local initiatives where relevant.
- Provide regular updates to Group leadership on network growth progress, risk factors, and financial performance.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- University degree in Business, Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the retail industry, with at least 5 years in network expansion, retail real estate, or multi-site operations.
- Proven track record of developing retail networks and opening new stores within a competitive and fast-paced environment.
- Experience in start-up activities is highly appreciated
- Previous P&L ownership is essential, with demonstrated success in managing financial performance.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience handling commercial lease contracts.
- Excellent team leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Proficiency in English
- Highly analytical and data-driven, with strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-starter with entrepreneurial drive, resilience, and the ability to operate independently in a growth environment.
